Umno dissidents merely ‘shit-stirrers’, Ku Nan says
(Malay Mail Online) – Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor has dismissed several dissenting Umno branch chiefs as “shit-stirrers”, after the latter planned to table a motion against party president Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
According to the Umno secretary-general, the group calling itself the Coalition of Branch Chiefs Malaysia (GKCM) would not even succeed in its plan, which also included bringing the delayed party polls forward.
“These people are shit-stirrers. They have to follow the [party’s] rules and regulations,” Tengku Adnan, also known as Ku Nan, said today as reported by portal Malaysiakini.
“I don’t think it will get through, whatever they’re trying to do,” he added, at the sidelines of the Kuala Lumpur-Terengganu Treasure Hunt 2016 in conjunction with Federal Territories Day.
The federal territories minister clarified that he believed so since GKCM members would need to go through several steps before they can even table the motions, which included garnering support from two-thirds of the members in their respective branches.
Yesterday, grassroots group GKCM announced its plan to table the two motions, following Tengku Adnan’s challenge for any member to do so if they have lost confidence in the leadership.
Despite that, Tengku Adnan cautioned that the branch leaders should refer to Umno’s constitution before taking any course of action.
“Whatever they want to do, they [should] read the constitution first. As the secretary-general, I know what I’m doing is right,” he said.
