So, do they or don’t they want foreign workers?

So, instead of bringing in 1.5 million Bangladeshis, you need to bring in just 500,000 and the balance of the one million can be filled in by the now unemployed Chinese DAP Red Bean Army cyber-troopers. Looking at the type of comments these Chinese DAP Red Bean Army cyber-troopers post, they are even less intelligent than those Bangladeshis. So they would probably be best suited to do all those hard labour jobs like how their ancestors once did.

NO HOLDS BARRED

Raja Petra Kamarudin

Judging by the news items below, (plus many more which we did not pick up), it looks like Malaysians are not too sure whether the 1.5 million Bangladeshis should be allowed into Malaysia or not. Even then those who are against allowing foreigners into Malaysia are not too sure why they are against it.

Some say no to foreign workers…period. This is especially so for the opposition people who want zero foreigners in Malaysia. These people seem to have forgotten that once-upon-a-time their ancestors were foreigners as well and the only reason they are Malaysians today is because the government allowed their foreigner forefathers to come to Malaya. If not these ardent opposers to foreigners would not have been born in Malaysia and, today, they would not be Malaysians.

This is a bit selfish I would say. Their forefathers migrated to Malaya and became citizens and that is why these selfish people are now Malaysian citizens. But then, after gaining free citizenship, they want to close the door on others and they do not want foreigners to contaminate Malaysia like how their own ancestors contaminated the country once-upon-a-time.

Actually, the British faced this same problem back in the 1800s. The locals did not want to do the hard labour jobs, which was dirty and dangerous work. So the British were forced to bring in Indians, Chinese and Indonesians (who were desperate enough to accept the jobs the smarter locals would avoid). If not today there would not be so many descendants of Indians, Chinese and Indonesians running around Malaysia screaming that Malaysia belongs to them as well and not just to Umno since they were born in Malaysia.

What is even more ironical is that these many descendants of Indians, Chinese and Indonesians not only run around Malaysia screaming that Malaysia belongs to them as well, but are also screaming that the Malays stole Malaysia from the Orang Asli. Can you imagine these people coming to Malaysia since 1850 and grabbing all the land and then accuse the Malays who had been living in Malaysia 1,000 years earlier of stealing the land from others?

I suppose it was the Malays who stole all the land in Penang and Singapore from the Orang Asli and that is why 98% of the population of Penang and Singapore is Malay. Then there is definitely no denying the allegation, and Penang and Singapore are evidence of how the Malays stole all the land from the Orang Asli.

When in 1850 the British decided to bring in the Indians, Chinese and Indonesians it was to satisfy a demand for labour. The locals refused to do those jobs so they had to bring in foreigners. In 1920, the British decided to stop the import of foreign labour because there were too many foreigners already in Malaya plus, because of the 1920s recession, the demand for labour had dropped.

It was basically a business decision — the law of supply and demand. Of course, today the Chinese and Indians scream that if not because of them Malaysia would never have developed and would still be a backward country. That may be true but if the Malays had screamed about these millions of foreigners being allowed into the country and if the British had stopped bringing in foreigners because of that then Malaysia would be 90% Malay and not only 50% like today.

But then the Malays did not scream like the Chinese and Indians do. So millions of Chinese, Indians and Indonesians were allowed into the country. There are those who say they are not against foreigners being allowed into the country but then they must not be of just one race or just Bangladeshis and should be from many races.

That may be a good idea. If not we would end up with too many people of one race like what happened when the British brought in just Chinese and Indians plus some Indonesians. Umno’s problem is that there are too many Chinese and Indians and this is threatening Malay political power.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, in turn, says that the government is flip-flopping. When the government refuses to listen to the people, Dr Mahathir will say it is draconian and undemocratic but when it listens to the people Dr Mahathir will say it is flip-flopping and does not know what it is doing.

This is actually a very good point. Once Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak has made a decision he should stick to it, even if the people are not happy. If Najib listens to the people and changes his mind, or reverses the policy, then Dr Mahathir is going to whack him and accuse him of flip-flopping.

To avoid being accused of flip-flopping, Najib should announce that the decision to bring in 1.5 million workers from Bangladesh will proceed and that there is no turning back. Then Najib can tell Dr Mahathir, “There! I am not flip-flopping.” And if anyone is not happy about the matter, ask him/her to go speak to Dr Mahathir about it.

So it appears like Malaysians are not sure what they want. No, we do not want a single foreign worker. Yes, we need many foreign workers. The foreign workers should not be just Bangladeshis but must be from many races. No need bring in foreign workers but just legalise the illegal workers already in the country.

There are those who do not care about the economy or the demand for workers. They just don’t like Bangladeshis (who actually, like the Pakistanis, were originally Indians before the partition of India) because they like to marry Malay girls.

I can understand why these people object to those from the Indian subcontinent marrying Malay girls. This happened many times in the past and eventually they claimed to be Malays and joined Umno and their offspring went on to become Prime Ministers and Deputy Prime Ministers. And that was when the country became a mess. I would hate one day if the son of a Bangladeshi father and Malay mother becomes Malaysia’s new Prime Minister and the country goes back to the era of the 1980s.

The issue is, everything in Malaysia is politicised. That is the long and short of it. So they even politicise the issue of the 1.5 million foreign workers. Anyway, since, according to Kadir Jasin, Umno is buying up all the news portals such as The Malaysian Insider, Malaysiakini, Free Malaysia Today, and so on, soon one million Chinese DAP Red Bean Army cyber-troopers are going to be unemployed.

And that, I believe, will lay the 1.5 million Bangladeshi workers matter to rest and everyone will live happily ever after.

Foreign workers are a must, says builders association

(Free Malaysia Today) – Foreign workers are a must for the construction industry, says Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM).

However, it should not be limited only to one nationality as having too many migrant workers originating from one country could lead to certain foreseeable problems, said MBAM’s vice-president AK Nathan.

“While we welcome the call by the Home Minister (Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) for employers to prioritise local workers, the reality is that most locals tend to stay away from sectors such as construction.

“That makes foreign workers a must for such industries. But to focus merely on Bangladeshi workers…that would be unwise.

“When there’re too many from the same country, we will face all sorts of social issues,” Nathan told FMT.

Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) Executive Director Shamsuddin Bardan said employers have all along employed this policy by advertising any available positions for several months before resorting to foreign workers.

“The local youth are choosy, especially during ‘easy’ times. But now that the economy is on a downturn, let’s see if the scenario changes.”

…..the government should avoid bringing any more foreign workers into the country.

This, he said, was because there were currently more than two million documented foreign workers in the country and around 1.7 million illegal ones.

Rather than adding to this number, the government should instead legalise the illegals so the country doesn’t end up with more migrant workers than it can handle.

Dr M: Govt is confused, flip-flops all the time

(Free Malaysia Today) – Dr Mahathir Mohamad has called the government “confused” and says that flip-flops in recent policies are creating uncertainty among Malaysians.

Speaking at a press conference here, Mahathir stressed that there would always be someone who would benefit and someone who would suffer losses when a policy is introduced or withdrawn.

“We see flip-flops happening all the time. They introduce a policy then they reverse it and then they reintroduce it.
