Move by foreign parties to topple Najib a possibility
(The Sun Daily) – There is a possibility of a move from foreign and domestic parties in order to try and topple Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said this was due the continuous attack Najib had received with regards to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) controversy, despite such allegation on him has been cleared by several authority bodies.
“The continuous assault directed towards the Prime Minister shows that there are foreign parties trying to interfere with the country’s administration.
“The parties is seen desperate, to the point of doing a personal attack on Datuk Seri Najib,” she said in a statement.
Azalina was responding to a claim made by The Wall Street Journal finance editor Ken Brown, stating the RM2.6 billion donation was not from the Saudi royal family but companies related to 1MDB.
In an interview with Australia’s ABC News, Brown said that WSJ had evidence to prove that the money in Najib’s account did not come from the Saudis.
Azalina said WSJ was desperate as it has to recycle the same allegation to attack Najib by linking him with the troubled state firm.
She added WSJ seemed to be having its own personal interest for continuously highlighting the same issue repeatedly.
“Authorities especially the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and the Attorney-General’s Chamber had came to a conclusion that the money in the Prime Minister’s private account did not came from 1MDB.
“Furthermore, the Swiss Office of Attorney-General had verified that Najib is not among individuals under its probe,” she said.
