(The Star) – Any proposal to suspend Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the supreme council meeting will have to go through the party disciplinary board, said Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan.

The Umno supreme council member said this was the usual process in any party where a reference was made to the disciplinary board over discipline issues.

“Any disciplinary case will be referred to the disciplinary board and it will conduct an investigation before making a recommendation on the action to be taken.

“As such, no decision on Muhyiddin will be made at the Umno supreme council meeting tomorrow (Friday),” he told a press conference after launching the Open Day of the National Solid Waste Management Laboratory here Thursday.

“The proposal to take disciplinary action will have to go through the relevant process. I hope the disciplinary board will be fair,” he added.

It was reported that Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz said he would propose the motion that Muhyiddin be suspended as deputy president during the supreme council meeting.

Nazri, who is an Umno supreme council member, said the motion could be used as a formal complaint against Muhyiddin for “failing his duty” as deputy president of the party.
