Why did Muhyiddin support Anwar’s sacking then?

Pro-Umno blog reminds former DPM that he supported party’s decision although Anwar was also not referred to disciplinary committee.

(FMT) – A pro-Umno blog has questioned why Muhyiddin Yasin and Pagoh Umno had supported the party’s decision to sack then Umno Deputy President Anwar Ibrahim in 1998.

This, MyKMU wrote, was because Anwar’s sacking could be considered illegal based on Muhyiddin’s argument as the former was also not referred to the disciplinary committee.

This was similar to the case of Muhyiddin, who was last week suspended as the party’s number two.

In denouncing his suspension, Muhyiddin had accused the Umno Supreme Council of not adhering to proper proceedings as he was not brought before the disciplinary committee or given a show cause letter.

The Pagoh lawmaker pointed out that even normal members were given a chance to defend themselves.

“The rules are still the same, it never changed,” MyKMU said, adding that even if the matter had gone through the disciplinary committee, the Supreme Council would have the final say.

The blog went on to remind Muhyiddin that he had taken an oath of loyalty six years ago and subsequently questioned his current allegiance.

“Six years ago, Muhyiddin vowed to be a loyal deputy. But where is his loyalty now?”

It stressed that Muhyiddin’s job was to be loyal and assist the Prime Minister in his work, instead of bad-mouthing the leader ever since being dismissed from the Cabinet.

Muhyiddin was dropped as the DPM and education minister in July last year.

“If Umno is a ship, then (Prime Minister) Najib Razak is the captain of the ship. Muhyddin is the first mate, not the second captain!”

Last Friday, Umno Secretary-General Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor announced that the Supreme Council had unanimously agreed to suspend Muhyiddin until the next party election, which is due in 2018.
