Kit Siang wants White Paper on ‘Najib’ charge sheet

Many questions have arisen directly from Muhyiddin Yassin’s statement on Saturday and Minister Azalina Othman Said’s rebuttal the same day.

(FMT) – Prime Minister Najib Razak should present a White Paper when Parliament reconvenes on March 7, said suspended Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang in a statement. “The White Paper should explain to MPs and the nation the events of July last year.”

Briefly, said Lim who was also DAP Parliamentary Leader, the White Paper should explain whether the AG’s Chambers had prepared a charge sheet last July to indict the Prime Minister for corruption, whether then Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail had briefed then Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin about Najib’s “corruption” and why the new Attorney-General Mohd Apandi Ali had exonerated him of any wrongdoing.

Lim said that questions have arisen directly from Muhyiddin’s statement on Saturday and Minister Azalina Othman Said’s rebuttal the same day. “There must be official confirmation or denial on these statements.”

The said charge sheet, recalled Lim, would have indicted Najib for corruption for having RM42 million from SRC International in his personal accounts. “Gani Patail briefing Muhyiddin precipitated the ‘purges’ by Najib on July 28, involving the sacking of the Deputy Prime Minister, a Senior Umno Cabinet Minister and the AG as well as other grave repercussions undermining the Rule of Law.”

Another question that has arisen, continued Lim, was why Apandi Ali had deliberately lied when he denied, in a statement on July 31, the existence of the charge sheet.
