Kit Siang – Mahathir: A Marriage of Convenience?

JUST days after announcing his exit from Umno, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad met up with his nemesis Lim Kit Siang over what was meant to discuss on national issues.
They probably had a breakthrough because Kit Siang claimed they were able to find encouraging development in solving problems faced by the country. Did they? How did this sudden friendship became so easy that they were able to find a solution almost immediately.
Is this ‘friendship’ a marriage of convenience with a motive to bring down the present government? A government led by Datuk Sreri Najib Razak, the person who welcomed him back into Umno after he exited the party, yet again, as a show of protest.
Kit Siang claimed that after the meeting with Mahathir, DAP would support all efforts to ‘Save Malaysia’ as opposed to campaigns to just ‘Save Najib” or ‘Save Umno’. He had called those who share his vision, including Mahathir, to work on a common agenda to ‘Save Malaysia’, an idea mooted to defend the constitution and rule of law with a new prime minister, which may come from either side of the political divide.
