Dr M’s anti-Najib alliance doomed from the start – Salleh

(Malaysian Times) – Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s anti-Najib alliance with opposition leaders is doomed from the start.

Salleh said the opposition’s idea of reforms differed greatly from that of Dr Mahathir’s and they were not united on the details.

“That alone ensures that this alliance is doomed from the start just like Pakatan Rakyat was. Let us first hear what their full agenda of reforms is before asking the rakyat for their support.

“After that what? Dr Mahathir said the alliance is merely to oust Najib so that Malaysia can be saved. Saved from what? What he means is the 1MDB issue but he does not want to mention that because the matter has already been resolved and is no longer an issue,” Salleh said in the latest post in his blog.

The minister was commenting on the latest anti-Najib campaign led by Dr Mahathir who issued a so-called Citizen’s Declaration in a move to oust Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as the prime minister.

“Even the RM2.6 billion matter has been resolved.

“They need to be honest and not take the rakyat for a ride. They realise that their move to oust Najib has failed and this is just a face-saving exercise.

“It is a side-show to give an impression that the effort has not ended when in fact it ended months ago,” Salleh said.

He said those who attended the campaign press conference yesterday were the same voices who had been most vocal and who had been demanding Najib’s resignation over the last one year.

“It was basically a collection of misfits and a motley crew who are united by only one thing: their hatred for Najib,” he said.

Earlier yesterday, 58 people, among them Dr Mahathir, his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali and their son Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, signed the declaration.

The others included Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Datuk Mustafa Ali, Lim Kit Siang and Datuk Zaid Ibrahim.
