With Bar’s suit, Putrajaya says won’t field further questions on RM2.6b

(Malay Mail Online) – The federal government will not respond to any parliamentary questions on the RM2.6 billion deposited in the prime minister’s accounts as the matter is now the subject of a judicial review application by the Malaysian Bar.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said that while Putrajaya was willing to answer questions on the topic as well as those related to SRC International, it was no longer able do so given the pending legal action.

She explained that Parliament’s Standing Order 23(1)(g) bars questions that have a tendency to touch on existing litigation and other related matters under the judiciary’s consideration.

“This is because there is now a preliminary lawsuit filed in the High Court (Appeals and Special Powers Division) by the Malaysian Bar against Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Apandi Ali on March 14, 2016,” she said in a statement.
