Ku Li is Mahathir’s new scapegoat or ‘kambing hitam’

What in heaven’s name drives these two people? At least you can understand the relationship between a prostitute and his/her client. One wants sex and the other wants money. But the Mahathir-Ku Li relationship is like a relationship between two prostitutes. So who is gaining from such a relationship?

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Raja Petra Kamarudin

Let us continue the earlier story (Mahathir finally reveals the sixth Tan Sri: Tengku Tan Sri Razaleigh Hamzah) from where we left off. The issue that we need to explore is who is screwing whom. Is it Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who is screwing Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah a.k.a. Ku Li or is it the other way around?

Mahathir and Ku Li have always had a very strange relationship, a sort of love-hate relationship. I am not sure if they are friendly enemies or hostile friends but it appears like they both cannot live with each other and at the same time cannot live without each other.

I suppose, to understand this strange phenomena, we need to go back 40 years to January 1976. At that time both Mahathir and Ku Li, together with Tun Ghafar Baba, were Umno Vice Presidents. But Ku Li had the highest votes followed by Ghafar and with Mahathir coming last.

When Tun Hussein Onn took over as Prime Minister after the death of Tun Razak Hussein, Ku Li was supposed to become the Deputy Prime Minister. However, Ku Li made way for Mahathir on the agreement that he would become the Deputy Prime Minister when Mahathir takes over as Prime Minister.

In July 1981, Mahathir took over as Prime Minister but he played Ku Li out. Mahathir refused to appoint Ku Li as his Deputy as promised in January 1976. And that was the beginning of this very strange love-hate relationship that Mahathir and Ku Li have been having ever since.

We do not need to go into the rest of the story, which I have related many times before. Suffice to say that ten years ago in 2006 when Mahathir decided to oust Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi he reached out to Ku Li to join the anti-Pak Lah campaign.

Ku Li thought about it for awhile and then agreed to team up with Mahathir to oust Pak Lah on the understanding that when the Prime Minister goes he, Ku Li, would take over as Prime Minister.

The day that Ku Li sent word to Mahathir telling the old man that he is prepared to team up to oust Pak Lah was the same day that the old man suffered a massive heart attack and was rushed to hospital. In fact, Mahathir almost died that night and the doctors gave him a 50:50 chance of surviving.

That is why I remember that day very well — plus the fact that I was the one who Ku Li sent to meet Mahathir to deliver his message that the deal is on. That was also the same day that a Hari Raya gathering was held in Mahathir’s house.

After that Mahathir and Ku Li met a few times and the alliance to oust Pak Lah went quite smoothly (with road shows organised in Kelantan, Kedah, Johor, Selangor, etc.). Mahathir even told Malaysians to vote opposition to punish Umno so that Pak Lah could be ousted.

Then, after the 2008 general election, Mahathir did a u-turn and chose Najib instead. And that was when Ku Li’s man, Nik Azmi Nik Daud a.k.a. Bul, came out that the brilliant idea of a Statutory Declaration to link Rosmah to Altantuya’s murder in the hope that this would screw Najib’s chances of becoming Prime Minister.

So Mahathir and Ku Li have been screwing each other and have been stabbing each other in the back for 40 years since 1976. And the last time was in 2008 when Mahathir dumped Ku Li and instead backed Najib for Prime Minister after working together for two years to oust Pak Lah.

We would imagine that after such a long history of selling each other out, Ku Li would no longer touch Mahathir with a ten-foot pole and vice versa. So it boggles the mind that last year Ku Li and Mahathir, yet again, teamed up in the ANC.

What in heaven’s name drives these two people? At least you can understand the relationship between a prostitute and his/her client. One wants sex and the other wants money. But the Mahathir-Ku Li relationship is like a relationship between two prostitutes. So who is gaining from such a relationship?

Anyway, Mahathir now blames Ku Li for the failed vote of no confidence last year. It seems Ku Li was supposed to deliver the 112 or more votes and he failed to do that. Mahathir also says that the vote of no confidence was Ku Li’s idea.

So it appears like Mahathir is the innocent party in this whole thing. He was duped by Ku Li. Ku Li was just using him. Ku Li is the mastermind behind the ANC.

Yes, that is vintage Mahathir. Now that the ANC has failed to oust Najib, Mahathir needs to look for a scapegoat. He needs someone to blame. And he always looks for someone to blame for his failures. That has been Mahathir’s trademark his entire career.

Tun Musa Hitam was to blame for the Memali disaster. Mahathir was not even in Malaysia at that time (although Musa says Mahathir was in Kuala Lumpur and was directing things from behind the scenes).

Ku Li was to blame for the RoS closing down Umno (it was not Mahathir who insisted that the RoS close down Umno to avoid a party re-election, which he would lose).

The Jews and Soros were to blame for Malaysia losing RM30 billion gambling on the FOREX market.

The Chinese were to blame for the Malays owning less than 5% of Malaysia’s corporate wealth.

The Americans were to blame for the collapse of Malaysia’s tin industry.

Tun Daim Zainuddin was to blame for RM60 billion of Umno’s money getting siphoned overseas and parked into various foreign banks in Africa and Latin America.

The Japanese were to blame for Perwaja collapsing (they supplied the wrong equipment).

Anwar Ibrahim was to blame for his son, Mirzan, losing RM1 billion in the Konsortium Perkapalan fiasco (Anwar refused to pay his son RM2 billion and agreed to pay only RM1 billion).

Pak Lah was to blame for Mukhriz not winning the Umno Youth Leadership (he did not tell Khairy Jamaluddin to make way for Mukhriz).

Najib was to blame for Mukhriz not winning an Umno Vice President’s seat (he did not tell his cousin Hishammuddin Hussein to make way for Mukhriz).

Let’s see who are going to have to take the blame for Mukhriz not becoming the Deputy Prime Minister in 2018 and/or Prime Minister in 2020. And has Mahathir figured out yet whom to blame for MAS and Proton struggling not to go bankrupt?

In short pluck any disaster from the top of your head and someone else is to blame. Mahathir is never to blame. Even the fact that RM3 is equivalent to Singapore $1 is the fault of Lee Kuan Yew. If not then RM1 would be the same as Singapore $1 … damn Lee Kuan Yew. The RM200-300 billion that Mahathir lost is not the reason for this.

Oh yes, and I was supposed to reveal the identity of the mysterious Chinese tycoon who is behind both Mahathir and Muhyiddin. Hmm…that does not quite fit in to this story so maybe next time.
