Mahathir confirmed that Deklarasi Rakyat intends to remove Najib by extra-constitutional means

Whatever happens, changes in the government and in the laws by which this country is governed must conform to the country’s constitution. And the body that legislate these laws is the Malaysian parliament whose members are chosen and replaced in accordance to the provisions of this constitution. Parliament may also change the constitutional provisions by a two-third majority.

The only other way to govern is when the YDP Agong is satisfied, on the advice of the prime minister, that an emergency situation exist in the country and an emergency is then declared throughout the whole country and the constitution and the parliament is suspended. Governing then will be by decree of whomever the YDP Agong appoints to run the country with His Majesty as the commander-in-chief of our armed forces.

But, of course, the powers of the YDP Agong may be usurped, too, by force. It’s called a coup d etat and it is usually involves the military and police might turning rogue. This is something foreign to this country. We have been a parliamentary democracy with a constitutional monarchy since our inception as a sovereign state.

Do we need to change this? According to the old geezer, yes. Simply because he could not get what he wants the way it is normally done, he wants to change the rules. Of course he can, but he must get the majority support first in a general election as provided for in our constitution.

At the so-called People’s Congress today, he failed to chart a proper way of how the so-called Citizens’ Declaration will go about trying to achieve its aims. What was shocking was this ex-prime minister advocated that the people show their dissatisfaction with Prime Ministet Najib Razak and hopes that the Malay Rulers will take note of this and change the prime minister as easy as that. How do you show dissatisfaction?

There’s nothing in our constitution that empowers the Malay Rulers to do that. We are a constitutional monarchy, meaning the will of the people always prevail. This is measured by the results of a general election, not the deliberations of the Rulers. Is Mahathir stupid and doesn’t know his constitutional law, or is he being mischievous? By getting people to “rise-up” he intends to create civil strife because not everybody is for his ideas.

Once we have civil disorder, the government in power will have to do the needful. It might end up entrenching Najib further, but will definitely not hand over power to Mahathir or his goons. Are those not agreeing with his megalomaniac schemes will remain quiet or will they react just as stupid? Is Mahathir mad?

I am one of those whose personal opinion is for Najib to go or be removed by parliament or be defeated at the PRU14. But if I allow him to be removed by mob rule or a subtle lynching, when will it stop? If you don’t like his replacement, do you do the same thing again?

So I challenge the government to arrest Mahathir for a seditious speech instigating the people to take matters into their own hands in a manner not through the ballot box or parliamentary-mandated changes. Why not? What’s so special about him to deserve special treatment? People have been locked-up for lesser reasons.

An Opposition that cannot do its job in seeking a democratic parliamentary solution should disappear from the Malaysian political arena. Shame on you.

I may hate Najib but I definitely hate Mahathir more. After today, I hate him much, much more.
