Guan Eng must go on leave, says DAP rep

(The Star) – A DAP assemblyman has told party secretary general Lim Guan Eng to “walk the talk” and go on leave until the issue of the purchase of his bungalow on Pinhorn Road is resolved.

Tanjung Bungah assemblyman Teh Yee Cheu (pic) said Lim, who is Penang Chief Minister, must heed the advice given by others and consider the leave option as previously DAP have told others to do the same.

“We must lead by example when asking others to do the same thing,” said Teh when asked to comment on an online portal where he was quoted as asking Lim to go on leave.

“I said this (asking Lim to go on leave) in the interview but it was merely echoing the call by former Bar Council president Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan and others who had asked the Chief Minister to go on leave.

“The credibility of the party is at stake if we do not practise what we preach” said Teh.

Lim is emboiled in a controversy over the purchase of his house at Pinhorn Road in Penang which has triggered an MACC investigation.

He had also resisted calls by various parties to go on leave until the investigations are completed.
