Abdul Rahman open to public debate with Guan Eng
(The Star) – Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan is willing to have a public debate with Lim Guan Eng over the controversies and corruption allegations against the Penang Chief Minister.
Speaking to reporters at an event in Parliament House here on Wednesday, Abdul Rahman said he did not mind publicly sharing the information that he has on the issues.
“Will I have a debate? That is up to him. I don’t mind telling the public what information I have.
“It’s not a problem if he is willing to come forward. I will have a one-on-one debate in front of everybody,” he said.
The Housing and Local Development Minister added that he will not mind meeting the DAP secretary-general if the conversation were not dominated.
“If he is willing to listen, it’s not a problem. The conversation should not be dominated.
“The problem with Lim is that he needs to let the people understand.
“I come forward publicly hoping that he too will come out publicly to answer (the allegations).
“(Instead) he has this funny idea, to have coffee with a minister,” Abdul Rahman said.
“It is incumbent upon him as the chief minister of Penang to address the issues publicly, not in some smokey dark room, me and him having coffee,” he said.
On Tuesday, Lim had said that Abdul Rahman was making the allegations against him as a personal attack to gain political mileage.
However, when asked if he would take legal action against Abdul Rahman, Lim said he would wait to have a face-to-face confrontation with him.
