IGP leads 1MDB investigations for cheating and CBT

(Malay Mail Online) – Police have resumed their investigations into state-owned investment fund company 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), following the findings presented by the Public Accounts Committee(PAC) report, which was presented in parliament last week.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said an investigating team led by him was formed following the findings of the PAC.

“We have recorded statement from several people involved and more will be called up soon,” he said.

Khalid however declined to reveal their identities.

Khalid said the investigations were being undertaken by both the criminal investigations department along with the commercial crime investigations department.

Based on the findings of the PAC, Khalid said the case would be investigated for cheating and criminal breach of trust by an agent or public servant.

“We will be looking establish is there was any criminal element involved with the company’s administrative undertakings,” Khalid said at the launch of a blood donation drive, held at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Center, in conjunction with the 209th Police Day Celebrations.
