1MDB and RM2.6 billion are just like Zakir Naik

But then what about urban Malaysia? Well, urban Malaysia is going to remain anti-government (like it has always been since the beginning) no matter what happens. Even if Najib resigns and Mukhriz becomes the new Prime Minister the voters in urban Malaysia are still not going to rush to vote Umno.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Raja Petra Kamarudin

Actually, I know Zakir Naik personally, as I do Sheikh Imran Nazar Hosein. I met them 20 years ago and they have been to my house. I even arranged for Sheikh Imran to give a talk at a MCOBA function. And if you know Ahmed Deedat you will probably be of the opinion that Zakir Naik, his ‘disciple’, is almost a carbon copy of him.

Anyway, I do not wish to go down that road because a lot is already being discussed regarding this matter and passions are running extremely high as it is. The only thing I wish to say is that the ‘problem’ with evangelists of any religion is that they preach to the already converted.

Those who attend Bersih rallies are already anti-government. Those who support the ANC (Anti-Najib Campaign) are already anti-Najib. Those who attend PAS ceramah are already PAS supporters. Those who come out to support Pakatan Harapan are already Pakatan Harapan supporters. And those who go to hear Zakir Naik talk are already ‘hardcore’ Muslims.

Mukhriz Mahathir said that Malaysians are not so gullible and will not believe what is being said about the 1MDB and RM2.6 billion issues (READ BELOW). Actually Mukhriz is wrong. Humans, by nature, are gullible. And that is why it is so easy to ‘sell’ religion to humans. And six billion people believe in God and subscribe to religion in one form or another (even agnostics believe in a ‘higher power’ of sorts).

I mean, was it so difficult for Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party to convince Germans that the Jews are evil and needed to be exterminated? Was it so difficult for the Pope back in the old days to convince Catholics that all non-Catholics (other Christians included) are evil and needed to be exterminated? Hell, they could even convince people that the earth is flat and not round.

So whom is Mukhriz preaching to in the news item below? Is he preaching to the ANC supporters and the Pakatuns? Or is he preaching to the hardcore Umno supporters who place Umno before and above all else? It is like walking into a packed hall of thousands during a Zakir Naik talk and then during the Q&A session you stand up and say that the Qur’an is a fake and the work of the devil and challenge Zakir to prove that the Qur’an did actually come from God.

You then walk out of the hall and ask all those who agree with what you say to join you and walk out together with you. In Malaysia you will be walking out alone. In Pakistan you will have to be carried out either on a stretcher or in a coffin.

But then if you went to an evangelical church in the ‘Bible-belt’ in America and did the same thing most likely 100% of the congregation would stand up and shout ‘Hallelujah!’ and will carry you on their shoulders.

So, when Mukhriz says Malaysians are not so gullible, etc., is he basing his assessment on his ‘feelings’ or is it based on a scientific research and an opinion poll? Or is Mukhriz so gullible in thinking that the majority of the Umno supporters believe the ANC and Pakatan spin regarding 1MDB and the RM2.6 billion?

At the end of the day, Umno does not depend on the DAP Chinese, the Pakatuns, the ANC supporters, and so on for support. And it is support at the ballot box that counts, not support amongst opposition supporters in the social media or on the Internet.

Let us first see what happens next month in the Sarawak state elections. The 1MDB and RM2.6 billion issues are still ‘hot’. So if those opposed to Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak have done a good job in convincing the Sarawakians then certainly Barisan Nasional is going to lose Sarawak.

Then, after the Sarawak state elections, let us discuss this matter again and see if Mukhriz is right after all. And what happens in Sarawak is more of less going to be the same scenario in the rest of rural Malaysia.

So, if you think that replacing Najib with Mukhriz is going to help Barisan Nasional win 70% of the votes and 90% of the seats, then you must be smoking something illegal.

Mukhriz says Malaysians not so gullible

(Free Malaysia Today) – Mukhriz Mahathir says Malaysians are not foolish enough to take a statement by Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir over the RM2.6 billion donation to Prime Minister Najib Razak at face value.

The former Kedah Menteri Besar said in an interview with blogger Din Turtle: “There must be proof to explain the money trail that led to the prime minister’s bank accounts.”

Mukhriz was referring to a recent statement made by Al-Jubeir that the donation to Najib had indeed come from his country.

Mukhriz asked: “Why would a minister from a foreign country state that he considered this case closed because the (Malaysian) Attorney-General (AG) had made a (similar) decision?”

Mukhriz added that Al-Jubeir’s statement did not even touch on the sum of the donation and the identity of the donor.

“He did not say that this was from a prince of Saudi Arabia and for what purpose.

“The AG had previously said that RM2.03 billion (of the donation amount) was returned to the donor. But Al-Jubeir did not even talk about it.”

The donation made headlines after the Wall Street Journal reported that the sum was believed to have come from the troubled 1MDB.

AG Mohamed Apandi Ali had cleared Najib of any wrongdoing in January, saying that the money that was sent to Najib’s personal bank accounts was a personal donation from an unnamed Saudi royal.
