PAC chief accused of editing 1MDB report
Opposition members in the Public Accounts Committee say that Hasan Ariffin did so without the consent of all members
(Berita Daily) – Opposition Public Accounts Committee (PAC) members today made a startling allegation that the committee’s chief Hasan Arifin has edited out a crucial fact in its report on the debt-ridden 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
In a press conference at parliament lobby today, DAP’s Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua said that Hasan has made a “serious editing” on the report without the consent of the committee members.
Citing the committee’s 106-page report on 1MDB tabled in parliament two weeks ago, Pua said that edited portion involved findings based on documents tendered by 1MDB former chief executive officer Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi on June 5, 2015 and from his statement during the PAC meeting.
It referred to an account belonging to Good Star Limited which is said to be a subsidiary of PetroSaudi Group since 1 September 2009.
“But, PAC chairman has cut out a (subsequent) sentence that has been approved in the committee meeting.
