People’s Alternative Party questions status of DAP candidates in Sarawak polls
(Bernama) – The People’s Alternative Party today questioned the status of DAP candidates in the Sarawak state election on May 7.
PAP national organising secretary Rahmad Isahak pointed out that the Registrar of Societies had ruled that it did not recognise the DAP Central Executive Committee.
He said the ROS should provide an explanation now that DAP had announced it would field 30 candidates in the Sarawak polls, nomination for which has been set for Monday April 25.
PAP president Zulkifli Mohd Noor (pic) said the ROS had been investigating the DAP CEC for more than three years without any decision.
“I hope Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi can intervene and settle the matter before the Sarawak election,” he said.
He said the PAP would lodge reports with the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission if the matter was not resolved soon.
The ROS had ordered a re-election of the DAP CEC following allegations of irregularities in the election and manipulation of votes during the election on Dec 15, 2012.
Following the re-election on Sept 29, 2013, there were allegations that some party members were denied the right to attend the congress as delegates.
