Nazri certain rebel Umno leaders will be booted out
“Some of them (Umno leaders) criticise within the limits which are allowed by the party. However Muhyiddin and Mukhriz will definitely be kicked out.”
(FMT) – Just as certain as the sun will rise in the East, that is how sure Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Aziz is on two rebel Umno leaders facing the boot soon.
He was referring to former Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and former Kedah Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir, both of whom have been critical of Prime Minister Najib Razak.
“Some of them (Umno leaders) criticise within the limits which are allowed by the party. However Muhyiddin and Mukhriz will definitely be kicked out.”
Nazri was also of the opinion that former Rural and Regional Development Minister Shafie Apdal would be shown the door as well.
Conceding that Shafie had not broken any of Umno’s rules, Nazri said the Umno vice-president had nevertheless crossed the line when he attended the “Bicara Isu Semasa” event in Jitra, Kedah last night with former prime minister Dr Mahathir and his son Mukhriz.
“As for Shafie, he never crossed the line until last night. Mahathir is now on the Opposition’s side and so when Shafie cooperates with him, it’s clear now that Shafie too has crossed the line and will be kicked (out of Umno),” Nazri told a press conference at Grand Margherita Hotel here today.
When asked when Umno proposed to take action against the trio, the Padang Rengas MP said the Sarawak election was more important at the moment than giving attention to them.
Nazri also likened those looking to topple Najib as nothing more than ‘mosquitoes.’
“Unimportant,” he remarked.
“Besides, we will give more time for them to make mistakes so that it will be easier for us when we want to take action against them.”
In his speech yesterday, Mahathir criticised Najib for his poor management of the country’s resources and his penchant for a lavish lifestyle.
