The Sarawak Vote Shows The Opposition ‘For Whom The Bell Tolls’!
The Malaysian Observer
The title is a quotation by John Donne which goes “Perchance he for whom this bell tolls may be so ill, as that he knows not it tolls for him; and perchance I may think myself so much better than I am, as that they who are about me, and see my state, may have caused it to toll for me, and I know not that”.
The quote in some respects perfectly sums up the plight of the opposition.
When the opposition does a post mortem on the events resulted in the beat down they have collectively taken in Sarawak’s election; they should come to the conclusion that they were ill but were self deluded in thinking that they were well!
No doubt the DAP and PKR believe this as they constantly sent a barrage of unfounded accusations at the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and the government at large and received only scant responses from the Prime Minister.
The opposition to their detriment believe that the Prime Minister’s lack of response was due to some internal guilt on his part or the lack of a fighting spirit! Whichever the case, they perceived themselves (opposition) to be ‘well’ and headed for the first of many political wins!
On their (oppostion’s) part they no doubt believed that bombarding the public with accusations that the Prime Minister was responsible for looting billions of Ringgit from 1MDB would cause the Parliament and the public to demand for the Prime Minister to resign or be arrested.
To influence the public even more; the opposition held a ‘People’s Congress’, A Citizen’s Declaration and a Save Malaysia Rally! These were done in their effort to further show how Malaysia was ‘ill’ and that they (DAP, PKR Tun ‘M’ et al) had a cure as they are the doctor that could cure all of Malaysia’s illnesses.
The plan was to cure Malaysia by first ousting the Prime Minister, the cabinet then change government in Sarawak and finally capture Putrajaya!
However, the opposition should have realized that their ‘Kajang Move’ was a sign of things to come as egotism is a poor substitute for the lack of planning skills and having a clear strategy!
