(The Sun Daily) – PAS should accept the invitation by PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali to join Pakatan Harapan which currently comprises PKR, DAP and Amanah.

The party’s Pokok Sena MP, Datuk Mahfuz Omar, said the invitation is timely as the opposition had lost in the 11th Sarawak election partly due to the tussle between the two Pakatan Haparan partners.

DAP and PKR were involved in a spat after the two allies decided to compete against each other in six seats in the recently concluded state polls – and were thrashed in all six.

“Although the seat clashes is not the sole determinant in the opposition’s under-performance, it clearly has confused the voters and the people,” Mahfuz said in a statement.

“The opposition should come together and set aside their ego to form a viable and more convincing pact to win over the ‘rakyat’,” he added.

Mahfuz, who is the former PAS information chief, also hopes that his party would accept Azmin’s offer with open arms for the country and the people’s sake.

Azmin, who is Selangor Mentri Besar, had called for opposition parties to “soldier on” together again in an alliance to fight in the next general election, which is due by July 2018, “as a team”.

He said this after concluding that the Sarawak election results revealed that the people rejected the squabbling among the opposition parties.
