Save Malaysia from what?

If all those Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, etc., in the so-called Save Malaysia Movement are really sincere, then they would first fight against the biggest violator of civil liberties, human rights and democracy. And that would be religion. Religion is the biggest destructor of all times since the beginning of time. And that should be the first thing these hypocrites fight against.

We hear a lot about the so-called campaign to ‘Save Malaysia’ and to fight for (or to restore) democracy, various freedoms, civil liberties, God-given rights, and so on. Then those campaigners of these freedoms, civil liberties, God-given rights, etc., will list down what it is that is wrong and what it is that we should fight for, or fight to restore.

That is all well and fine. There is nothing wrong in fighting for something that one considers noble and virtuous. But then who decides these parameters and standards? Who list downs what is wrong and what needs to be put right? And is that list open to discussion or based only on your interpretation of right and wrong?

This is where these campaigners are being presumptuous in thinking that they are the definers of morals and standards and what they decide goes and that they can decide without further discussion or reference to the rest of us.

I mean Malaysia is a country of 30 million citizens so what makes you think that 100,000 or even 250,000 of you have the legitimacy to decide for the rest of the 29 million? Even if it is true you have 500,000 signatures (or 1 million, as some claim), and even if we give you the benefit of the doubt that no one signed ten times, that still does not represent the wishes of 30 million Malaysians.

As I said, you are being presumptuous in assuming that your cause automatically must become the cause of the entire 30 million Malaysians and that only your cause matters while the cause of others do not.

The one million PAS members have their cause as well. And that cause is to set up an Islamic State. But then you belittle that cause and arrogantly mock the PAS members and call them camel-shaggers and outdated and small-minded and so on. To you, PAS people are idiots for wanting to see Malaysia turned into an Islamic State.

But what is wrong with wanting an Islamic State? What is wrong with that cause? Why must you arrogantly run down the PAS people just because this is not the cause that you support? And what makes you think only your cause is right while all other causes are wrong?

So you ‘Save Malaysia’ campaigners have obtained 500,000 signatures or one million or whatever (and no one signed ten times). So that makes your cause legitimate, noble and virtuous because of it. But what if PAS manages to get two million signatures that support an Islamic State? Will you then agree that the cause to set up an Islamic State is legitimate, noble and virtuous? Or will you still disagree with an Islamic State because you do not support it although two million others do?

So stop trying to impress us with the 500,000 or one million signatures of people who signed the ‘Save Malaysia’ petition. Many probably signed more than once or even ten times anyway. Your 500,000 or one million do not represent the views of 30 million Malaysians.

You say your aim is to free Malaysians or save Malaysia. Free Malaysians or save Malaysia from what? Can you explain? Humans since the beginning of time have always built walls around them and have imprisoned themselves behind these walls. So how do you free Malaysians or save Malaysia?

It can never be done.

For example, man is born free but then we set up boundaries, borders, territories and governments. And then we become imprisoned within these boundaries, borders and territories and confined and controlled by laws, rules and systems set up by the governments that we create.

For example, those born outside Malaysia cannot travel to Malaysia without an international passport. And Sabah and Sarawak can ban people from entering their territories, even fellow West Malaysians. So there is no freedom to enter Malaysia and even less freedom to enter Sabah and Sarawak.

But then who created this? Was this how it was since the universe was first created billions of years ago? Is this what is laid down in the holy books of the Jews, Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, etc? Or is this a man-made law that came about just recently over 50 or 60 years ago?

So who is the one who is denying us freedom to move around or freedom to enter any territory we want without hindrance or interference? Is it not we who are building a prison around us and are imprisoning ourselves? So what save Malaysia and free Malaysians are we screaming about? Who is imprisoning us? We are imprisoning ourselves.

Then we create other forms of imprisonment such as religion. And then we shackle ourselves with laws and rules and tell ourselves that this is what God wants. Then we tell ourselves that we are not free men but are slaves, slaves to God. Then we complain that there is no freedom in Malaysia.

If we indulge in anal sex (or even oral sex), even with our own spouse, we can get arrested and jailed for twenty years. That is equivalent to a life sentence for murder in the UK. Where is the freedom to indulge in sex between two or more consenting adults?

Adultery for Muslims is outlawed. But non-Muslims can have as much adulterous sex as they want. But if you pay for sex then you go to jail. Only if the sex is free can you escape jail. Whose laws are these? Some will argue that this is God’s law. But what if I do not believe in God even though both my parents may be Muslims? Well, you still go to jail because if your parents are Muslims then by law you, too, are Muslim.

But then where is my freedom? Why doesn’t anyone launch a save Malaysia and free Malaysians campaign and collect one million signatures to support freedom of choice and freedom of belief? Why must I be forced to be a Muslim just because my parents are Muslims or my father decided to leave Hinduism and convert to Islam and then divorce my Hindu mother?

This is all utter bullshit. The Save Malaysia Movement picks and chooses its issues. And the issues they choose are only about toppling the Prime Minister. They are not true civil liberty, human rights or democracy activities. They are only pretending to be doing the right thing.
