The 1.2 million fictitious signatures on the ‘Save Malaysia’ petition

mt2014-no-holds-barred

In short, what Lokman said was, there are no 1.2 million signatures. This is all a fraud. This is what the opposition loves to call ‘phantom voters’. No doubt some of the signatures are real. But the bulk of the 1.2 million people who ‘signed’ that petition are non-existent and the names were lifted from the electoral roll. And I am sure His Majesty the Agong has been warned about it.

NO HOLDS BARRED

Raja Petra Kamarudin

Malay-medium Blogger Shahbudin Husin has whacked the Communications and Multimedia Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak, and has asked the Minister to not try to teach His Majesty the Agong (READ HERE).

This is the trouble with these Malay-medium or Malay-educated people. They do not understand English and yet they make comments as if they do.

I remember once when Harakah, the party organ of PAS, translated my article and they translated ‘when pigs fly’ to ‘bila babi terbang’ instead of using the Malay idiom ‘bila kucing bertanduk’ (when cats grow horns).

I suppose people like Shahbudin Husin would translate ‘huge embarrassment’ to ‘kemaluan besar’ if we are not careful. Well, that is the trouble when we take the Malays out of the kampung but we fail to take the kampung out of the Malays

Salleh was not trying to teach the Agong anything, as Shahbudin Husin alleges. Salleh was trying to teach those like Shahbudin Husin who are making such a big deal out of the 1.2 million signatures.

They said they are going to send the 1.2 million signatures to His Majesty the Agong. Well, in case Shahbudin Husin does not know, we, too, sent a petition to the Agong back in November 2007.

At that time we set up a movement called Bersih (before Anwar Ibrahim hijacked it and called it Bersih 2.0). Actually, Anwar had nothing to do with Bersih and refused to even support it. And the reason Anwar refused to support Bersih was because Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was secretly and indirectly involved in it.

So you see, Anwar boycotted Bersih because he did not want to have anything to do with a movement that Mahathir was involved in. Then, when Bersih succeeded, Anwar hijacked it and shamelessly changed its name to Bersih 2.0.

And now they have no problems working with Mahathir since they have failed twice (in 2008 and 2013) to oust Umno and Barisan Nasional and take over the federal government.

Anyway, in November 2007, we who had formed Bersih sent a petition to the Agong calling for electoral reforms. But we knew that the Agong could not do anything. And we really did not expect the Agong to do anything because constitutionally there was nothing the Agong could do.

But we still collected all those signatures and sent the petition to the Agong merely as a symbolic gesture. We wanted the public to know that electoral reforms were required. So we collected signatures on a petition and sent that petition to the Agong just to ‘make a statement’. That was all.

Shahbudin Husin probably does not understand this because he does not understand English well. So he thought Salleh was trying to teach the Agong whereas the Minister was actually telling people to not set their hopes too high.

Maybe Shahbudin Husin forgot that it was Mahathir who in the 1980s accused the Agong of abusing his power and he launched an anti-Monarchy campaign. Some very nasty things were said about the Rulers and Mahathir taught Malaysians how to be kurang ajar to the Palace.

Mahathir did exactly what the Indians in India did to their Rulers. Fortunately, not many Malays supported Mahathir or agreed to dispose of their Raja-Raja Melayu the way the Indians did to their own Rulers. In fact, people like Tunku Razaleigh Hamzah and ‘Team B’ in Umno warned the Malays that the reason Mahathir wants to get rid of the Rulers is because that is what Indians like to do (sounds racial does it not?).

Anyway, this is all Anwar’s and Mahathir’s fault. When they started teaching English in Bahasa Malaysia we ended up with people like Shahbudin Husin who thinks that Salleh is trying to teach the Agong. Shahbudin Husin should just read Malay pieces and not confuse himself with English pieces lest he suffers a kemaluan besar by accusing Salleh of trying to teach the Agong.

Another interesting thing is what Lokman Noor Adam said below. This piece is in Bahasa Malaysia so Shahbudin Husin can read it and comment on it if he so wishes.
