Mukhriz says being treated worse than opposition
(The Star) – Datuk Seri Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir is disappointed over the actions of some people who treat him worse than the opposition and go to great lengths to prevent him from speaking to the public at any event.
The former Kedah mentri besar said he was supposed to attend a function in Semporna on Sunday and speak on issues faced by the country but was told at the last minute that the event had been cancelled.
He said the organisers told him that they were threatened if they continued with the function.
“I am disappointed with the decision and wonder whether preventing me from speaking to the public, even under closed doors, will help strengthen or weaken the party,” he said.
“I was made to understand that opposition leaders from Pakatan Harapan have been allowed to make public speeches but not me even though I am still an Umno division leader,” Mukhriz said in a statement here on Sunday.
He said such actions do not portray Umno’s democratic values, and leaders who are aware of incidences that tarnish the image of the party and country should not stay silent. is disappointed over the actions of some people who treat him worse than the opposition and go to great lengths to prevent him from speaking to the public at any event.
