Dr M’s changing stand confusing, Umno veep says
(MMO) – Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said today he finds it hard to understand Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the former prime minister has been singing different tunes every day,
Nevertheless, Hishammuddin said what is important for Barisan Nasional (BN) is to focus instead on the deployment of its own machinery heading into the two by-elections in Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar.
“Two days ago, he said BN will lose, then yesterday he said the opposition will lose. So I don’t understand what is his narrative, or his stand. It’s changing every day,” he told reporters at the Dewan Rakyat lobby.
“What is important is that our machinery moves forward, and that we pick the right candidates that will truly be accepted by the people of Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar.”
He added that BN should not be looking at the opposition’s flaws to draw its strength, but instead focus on strengthening itself.
“Leave it to the people to judge whether the ties among the opposition is strong,” he said.
Last Sunday, Dr Mahathir was recorded calling for voters to defeat BN in both the Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar by-elections.
Yesterday, however, Dr Mahathir reportedly claimed that the opposition would likely lose in both polls due to its inability to be united.
