“The Lady Doth Protest Too Much, Methinks”

“The Lady Doth Protest Too Much, Methinks” is a quotation from the 1599/1600 play Hamlet by William Shakespeare

It has been used as a figure of speech, in various phrasings, to describe someone’s too frequent and vehement attempts to convince others of some matter of which the opposite is true.

Other than the ‘lady part’ this seems to describe Tun Mahathir as one considers his rants, charges and fabrications against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak!

The retired Prime Minister (Tun ‘M’) has been for more than a year spending time trying to convince Malaysians and anyone else that Prime Minister Najib should step down from office because he (The Prime Minister) has supposedly become the beneficiary of billions of Ringgit transferred to him illegally from 1MDB.

Tun Mahathir as only Tun can do repeatedly told the press how RM 42 billion disappeared into thin air.  Since the story of vanishing money was a good tag line, he (Tun ‘M’) continued to push it until the truth of the story came out!

Not wanting to stop his attack on Prime Minister Najib Razak; Tun ‘M’ gave the press another version of the missing money story; only this time the amount was RM 2.6 billion with it subsequently becoming more than that (RM2.6 billion) figure.

Of course with the Malaysian economy being slow as part of the same factors that are affecting the world economy; Tun ‘M’ knows that any suggestion that billions are missing or stolen would be very sensitive to the rakyat!  Then the idea was to connect the Prime Minister to the alleged missing or stolen funds with the hope that the people would ask for him to step down from office.

Tun Mahathir along with the rest of the opposition’s (DAP, PKR, Amanah et al) constant pointing a finger at the Prime Minister over 1MDB did not cause the ground swell of support that they (opposition) hoped.  In fact the more Tun ‘M’ protested Prime Minister Najib remaining in office the more it seemed that he and the other conspirators had personal agendas which underlined their activities.
