Selangor MB yet to meet Rafizi over graft claims
(MMO) – Datuk Seri Azmin Ali said he has not met PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli regarding the latter’s allegations of corruption involving the Selangor administration.
The Selangor mentri besar repeated, however, his call for anyone with evidence of graft to report it to the relevant authorities such as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
“No, I haven’t,” he responded to reporters when asked if he had met with Rafizi.
When asked if he would form a state committee to investigate the matter as suggested by PKR parliamentary whip Datuk Johari Abdul yesterday, Azmin instead reiterated that those who encountered graft should approach authorities directly.
Azmin also state his administration’s commitment to accountability and transparency.
Last Friday, Rafizi verified a leaked WhatsApp message from him that alleged of corruption within the state administration, but said the claims were not against any elected representative in Selangor or state official.
The PKR vice-president said the allegation was “specific” and not “general” and would be dealt with in the same way that he handled all tip-offs on misconduct.
Azmin previously categorised the claim as a smear campaign against his government.
In the leaked message that was sent to the “Solidarity for Anwar” WhatsApp group, Rafizi spoke of demands for cash and women in dealings with the Selangor administration and warned his party that he would expose the corruption unless it is halted.
The Pandan MP also claimed to already have evidence on the matter, but was restraining himself from revealing further details, as it would damage his party.
The apparent refusal to report the alleged corruption drew criticisms of double standards against the PKR MP who positions himself as a whistleblower against rivals in Barisan Nasional.
