Tunku Abdul Aziz lodges report against Tun M over Agong ‘house arrest’ claim
Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim today lodged a police report against former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad over the latter’s claim that the government had placed Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah under house arrest.
(NST) – Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim today lodged a police report against former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad over the latter’s claim that the government had placed Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah under house arrest. Tunku Abdul Aziz, who is the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) adviser, said Dr Mahathir’s claims were “totally false and mischievous.”
Speaking to the reporters outside the Dang Wangi police headquarters today, Tunku Abdul Aziz said: “Tun Mahathir claims that this was done to prevent Yang di-Pertuan Agong from receiving the 1.4 million people’s signatures to force the Prime Minister to resign.”
He said Dr Mahathir’s Act was irresponsible and had stoked confusion and threatened the country’s peace.
“Tun Mahathir has gone too far, far beyond the bounds of propriety. He has by his irresponsible act created confusion, suspicion, and disquiet, and put the peace and security of the nation at considerable risk.”
He said Dr Mahathir had attempted to involve constitutional Rulers in politics, and partisan politics to his advantage. Tunku Abdul Aziz urged the authorities to take immediate action against Dr Mahathir.
