History does not support Mahathir’s denial about Mukhriz
LSS
Today, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad denied again he wants to make his son Mukhriz the Prime Minister and said that he is “doing all this for Malaysia and not Mukhriz”.
Never mind that he wanted foreign intervention, collaborates with foreign media which he once called as “evil and has hidden agenda”, supports streets demonstration to overthrow the govt, constantly goes around the world bad-mouthing Malaysia including saying we are Taliban country, claiming that Malaysia is a negara pengemis failed state and also making irresponsible claims that our Agong is “under house arrest”.
Mahathir also admitted that just before he retired as UMNO president, the UMNO HQ had directed the Kubang Pasu division to admit his son as an UMNO member because the Kubang Pasu division initially did not want to admit Mukhriz.
At that time in 2003, Mukhriz who was 39 then was probably busy doing business with his listed companies Reliance Pacific Bhd and Opcom Bhd.
Mahathir also claims that he stopped supporting Najib when the “1MDB scandal” exploded.
But history and the chronology of events does not support Mahathir’s claims.
For one, in Nov 2013 when Mukhriz lost in the UMNO elections for Vice-President, Mahathir had accused UMNO warlords and Najib of not supporting Mukhriz and using money politics of making his son lose.
But I wonder why Mukhriz would be in such a rush to skip contesting for UMNO youth or even for supreme council to straight away contest for VP spot if the president spot is not his ambition?
Even at this time, Rafizi even said that the main justification for the Kajang Move was that Mahathir is already trying to overthrow Najib and if Mahathir wins, UMNO will use race and religious conflicts to cause a darurat in Selangor. Rafizi said Anwar being appointed Selangor MB would be able to prevent this darurat.
Then within a month later, Mahathir surprisingly quit as Petronas adviser citing ill-health only to become Proton Chairman a month later.
And when Mahathir announced in his blog post that he no longer supports Najib and the govt in Aug 2014, there was absolutely zero mention of 1MDB and RM2.6b.
In fact, the delay in 1MDB paying their bridging loan only happened in Dec 2015 and the RM2.6b donation was only exposed in July 2015.
And for more than a year, Mukhriz and Mahathir said he will not pakat with the opposition to bring down Najib.
But immediately after Mukhriz was forced to quit as Kedah MB,, Mahathir quit UMNO (again) and within two weeks had lined up with all his once-hated Pakatan leaders in his Deklarasi PakaTun.
Sorry Mahathir, history and your actions does not support your claims.
