Dapsy pushes for Amanah in Sg Besar and KK
(FMT) – DAP Socialist Youth (Dapsy) is pushing for Amanah to be Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) representative in the coming June by-elections for Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar against PAS.
“Considering that PAS has rejected all possibility of avoiding a three-cornered fight involving BN, PAS and PH, and is more likely to give Umno the win, Pakatan Harapan needs to place the best candidates to defeat BN’s candidates,” said Dapsy chief Wong Kah Woh.
The Canning assemblyman noted that this would be the first by-election to be contested by PH in Peninsular Malaysia after its establishment last year.
“As comrades in Pakatan Harapan, it is important that we ensure Amanah expands and becomes a party capable of challenging Umno and BN in the 14th General Election.”
Wong also noted that the PAS candidates for Kuala Kangsar in 1999, 2004 and 2008 were Asmuni Awi, Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin, and Khairuddin Abdul Malim respectively, all of whom have since left PAS to be with Amanah and Pakatan Harapan.
“It is our responsibility to show that Pakatan Harapan is capable of being a formidable Opposition front to replace Barisan Nasional in the 14th General Election,” Wong said.
Dapsy will be working with Amanah Youth in the two by-elections.
Dapsy’s party machinery from Penang, Kedah, Perak, Pahang, and Sabah will help to campaign in Kuala Kangsar, whereas its machinery from Selangor, the Federal Territories, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor and Sarawak will campaign in Sungai Besar.
