PKR factions in WhatsApp fight

(The Star) – A big battle is going on between the two PKR factions, with WhatsApp arguments running into the wee hours.

One group supports party deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali while the other group is made up of secretary-general Rafizi Ramli and a few others backing party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

A PKR source, who is privy to these exchanges, said the “fight” revolved around Rafizi’s recent allegation that women and money were requested during negotiations with the state government.

The pro-Azmin group accuses Rafizi of seeking publicity with such allegations and claims he is worried about his position in the party as Azmin’s power base is getting stronger.

Rafizi supporters, on the other hand, said Rafizi only wanted to right the wrongdoings in the party and questioned why “some people are getting upset”.

On Rafizi’s Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) report over the matter, the source said the party secretary-general habitually lodged reports with the authorities, but claimed that not much evidence would be provided.

However, Kapar MP G. Manivannan, who had accompanied Rafizi to the MACC, said the secretary-general handed over an envelope with evidence to the agency.

“It was a sealed white envelope and even those who went with him to the MACC do not know what was in it,” said Manivannan.

He said Rafizi had handed over the evidence to MACC officers and told them that he left it to them to pursue the matter.
