What is Rafizi’s skeleton?
Soo Wern Jun, The Heat Malaysia
The thin line that differentiates politicians from ruling parties and politicians from the opposition parties seem to have blurred into oblivion.
At one time, one can safely say that it is the ruling politicians who would be barring the media and it is the ruling politicians who would be handing out goodies during elections.
In recent years, however, one can no more distinguish which is the ruling politician and which is the opposition man.
The most recent being that of PKR secretary general and Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli barring Prime Minister’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor’s aide from attending his press conference, in which he was lambasting Rosmah.
Rafizi is the latest line up of opposition politicians who are selective of the media and people he speaks to.
Another main one is Penang’s Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, who has barred reporters and refused to answer questions from reporters.
If Rafizi’s reason for now allowing Rizal Mansor (Rosmah’s special aide) entry was simply because he did not want face Rosmah’s ‘handbag carrier’ is no excuse to behave the way he did.
After all, whether Rizal is a handbag carrier or not, he is still a special aide to the Prime Minister’s wife whom Rafizi is disparaging and surely that holds some weight. And what is it that Rafizi was afraid of, his own skeletons or he is lacking in a backbone?
Also, is there an invited list, and is Rafizi only to be covered by selected reporters and journalists, as is normally done by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak?
Asking for comments on Rafizi’s conduct to his fellow opposition seem to condone the fact that quite a number of the opposition elected representatives too have this notion that they do not have to answer to everybody and only to those who they want.
DAP Kluang MP Liew Chin Tong who did not want to comment further says that it was a hostile event and he did not blame Rafizi for doing so. The last time we checked, Rizal was not carrying any arms into the press conference.
Meanwhile, DAP Kepong MP Dr Tan Seng Giaw says that he was unable to render any comments as he was not at the event and that it was unreasonable for him to express his opinions. Since when did Tan decide that he would only comment on events he was present?
Along with that, DAP Serdang MP Dr Ong Kian Ming has also declined to comment on the matter, for unknown reasons.
Why are they not condemning Rafizi’s actions, when opposition politicians are the first to kick up a ruckus should this have been the case with a BN politician?
It now sounds like Rafizi, who is hailed as ‘the’ expose-man, is finally feeling the heat when Rizal stood up to him. If indeed all that he exposed of Rosmah is true, then Rafizi should have allowed Rizal in and answered every question Rizal has. By the way, did he not always hanker for a debate for every small thing?
