Sue to disprove affair rumour, Malay rights group tells Muhyiddin

(MMO) – Former deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin should take legal action against those accusing him of an extramarital affair, said Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM).

JMM president Azwanddin Hamzah said failure to sue Malaysia Today blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin over the allegation would suggest that Muhyiddin has something to hide.

“These are very serious allegations and he cannot remain silent, and he has to take action if he really is innocent,” Azwanddin said in a statement today.

The JMM president added that silence on Muhyiddin’s part would fuel belief in the alleged affair.

Muhyiddin declined to comment on JMM’s statement when contacted by Malay Mail Online.

Raja Petra wrote last week that Muhyiddin was allegedly engaged in an affair with a married woman. The suspended Umno deputy president has denied the claim, calling it “slanderous” and “disgusting.”

He also told Raja Petra to apologise for making the “wild accusations,” especially during the Muslim holy month of Ramadhan.

Raja Petra responded on Saturday by challenging Muhyiddin to sue in order to prove the latter’s innocence.
