Dr M has lost his fangs, says Nik Abduh
(MMO) – Barisan Nasional’s convincing wins in two by-elections despite efforts by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to prevent this showed the former prime minister no longer has influence, said PAS Youth chief Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz.
The son of the late PAS spiritual advisor Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat said Dr Mahathir’s powers were now a shadow of they were before, and advised the latter to focus more on his faith in the late years of his life.
“Tun Mahathir’s fangs have officially been extracted. I recommend that Tun Mahathir spend more time on prayer mats and facing the Kaabah,” he said in a Facebook post.
“The era of his strength when facing the late Tok Guru Nik Aziz has ended.
“If Tun returns to Allah with honest repentance, that is the best way to live towards the end of your life,” he added.
He also stressed that PAS did not need to be “bound” by any group, saying that an Islamic movement should only bind itself to Allah and the religion.
“It is haram for an Islamic movement to bind itself with a secular government that refuses to tie itself to a religion or only superficially presents itself as religious to draw support,” he said.
“It is also haram for an Islamic party to be with opposition parties that oppose the government to the point of losing the principles of Islam’s struggle for the sake of toppling the cruel secular government.”
Dr Mahathir made the unprecedented step of campaigning against BN on the opposition Pakatan Harapan’s platform during last week’s Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar by-elections, as part of his bid to remove Datuk Seri Najib Razak as prime minister.
Despite this, BN candidates won in both polls and by larger margins than during Election 2013.
