Umno Youth: Stop Govt funding for Dr M-led Perdana foundation

(The Star) – Umno Youth has called on the Government to stop providing funds to the Perdana Leadership Foundation helmed by former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

The wing’s vice chief Khairul Azwan Harun (pic) said such measures had to be taken to prevent Dr Mahathir from using the foundation as a platform to topple Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

“Umno Youth condemns Dr Mahathir for smearing the Malaysian Government and Najib, as it is against the constitution and democratic practices to do so,” Khairul told a press conference at Menara Umno on Thursday.

Asked if the they had evidence of Dr Mahathir using the foundation as tool to topple Najib, Khairul said they would leave it to the authorities to investigate.

He said they would forward their statement to the Prime Minister’s office and Umno secretary-general.

“We will also bring this matter up at the Umno supreme council meeting Friday,” he Khairul Azwan.
