Karma bites: Mahathir is finished, his legacy ridiculed
Mastura thrashes the combination of Mahathir-Lim Kit Siang-Lim Guan Eng-Mat Sabu causing the Spartan-like Mahathir to lose to a powerless lady sitting at home. Can it get any more insulting?

Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been doing everything and anything possible for over a year to unseat the prime minister, Najib Tun Razak. Whenever you think Mahathir cannot get any worse, he continues to lower the bar and hit below the belt. However, his every attempt has fallen flat thus far.
The late Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj once said that the time would come when someone would find a way to put Mahathir in his place.
Reminiscing about the past, there was once an influential opposition political party named Semangat 46 that was formed in 1989. Its first general meeting was held on October 12, 1989 and was officiated by Tunku Abdul Rahman. Semangat 46 also boasted support from the late Tun Hussein Onn along with Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.
Hussein Onn and Tunku saw through Mahathir’s evil intentions and worked tirelessly to convince the people to withdraw their support of him. During elections, they rallied against Mahathir, pleading to the people to reject him. Tunku labelled Mahathir as “greedy” and said the latter would resort to any wrongdoing to fulfill his lust for power.
Malaysia’s Father of Independence once uttered, “…there is no more democracy. You say anything, you are put in (jail) and you are not allowed to reply nor allowed to hold rallies to defend yourself. Only Mahathir can go from place to place to attack us…”
Just as now we hear Mahathir saying that the Umno today is Najib’s Umno, both Tunku and Hussein Onn once said the same thing labelling Umno Baru as Mahathir’s Umno.
Mahathir kept Tunku and Hussein Onn away from Umno. Their membership into Mahathir’s Umno Baru was blocked. When they tried to form a party called Umno Malaysia, Jabatan Pendaftaran never allowed it to happen.
Those of us who witnessed Mahathir ill-treating Tunku and Hussein Onn are currently seeing history repeating itself. Mahathir quit Umno and has burnt that bridge by campaigning against the Malay party.
During the recent by-elections in Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar, Mahathir pleaded with the voters to reject Najib. Not only did he go to the ground himself, his wife was with him for sympathy.
Mahathir requested Kuala Kangsar voters get Barisan Nasional’s Mastura Mohd Yazid defeated so badly that she would lose her deposit. In contrast, despite sitting at home mourning the demise of her husband and not actively campaigning, Mastura thrashed the combination of Mahathir-Lim Kit Siang-Lim Guan Eng-Mat Sabu. The once Spartan-like Mahathir lost to a powerless lady sitting at home. Can it get any more insulting?
Mahathir’s dramatic Citizens’ Declaration also got a beating. Amanah-DAP-PKR who are spearheading the Anti-Najib Campaign only garnered 24.3% of votes in Sungai Besar and 21% of votes in Kuala Kangsar. Both BN and PAS who rejected Mahathir’s Declaration to oust Najib obtained a combined 75.7% and 78.9% of votes in Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar respectively.
Let’s not even speak on what happened in the recent Sarawak state election.
Extrapolating from recent events, it is obvious that Malaysians reject Mahathir.
Mahathir can say all he wants, to “syok sendiri”, but the fact is that he is irrelevant. Mahathir is finished. The Mahathir legacy has been ridiculed to the core. Mahathir will only be remembered for all his wrongdoings by the future generation.
Mahathir worked hard to build his legacy and is destroying it himself. How fitting it is to see Mahathir being given the same kind of treatment he gave those who opposed him during his 22 years as prime minister.
