Opposition party Vice-President Hasanuddin Mohd Yunus says it is also open to former prime minister Dr Mahathir and PAS MP Mahfuz Omar coming on board.

(FMT) – Amanah is ready to open its doors to sacked Umno leaders, Muhyiddin Yassin and Mukhriz Mahathir, to “save the country”, but only if they are willing to abide by the party’s philosophy.

Amanah vice-president Hasanuddin Mohd Yunus said that the party is also willing to open its doors to former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Pokok Sena MP Mahfuz Omar, Sinar Harian Online reported.

Hasanuddin said Amanah’s goal was to build a prosperous and harmonious nation, and guide citizens towards a life that is free from suspicion between the different races.

He added that the party also wanted to end corruption, wastages and the hardship experienced by the people.

“If they are willing to understand Amanah’s philosophy, we are ready to process their membership at any time.”

He said if the four were not ready to join Amanah, the least they could do is work with Amanah and Pakatan Harapan to save the country.

Hasanuddin said there were no reasons for Muhyiddin and Mukhriz to not join Amanah, as they knew better what was happening, having previously been part of the country’s leadership and now having ambitions to save Malaysia.

“What is important is that we can aid all Malaysians, including the members in Umno, PAS, MCA, MIC and PBB, among others, and not the four leaders alone.

“If the members of these parties feel their party is confused, they can join us en mass.”

Hasanuddin said should Mahathir join the party, he would certainly be given a position suited to his stature.

Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub was previously reported as saying that his party was willing to open its doors to Mukhriz, after the latter was removed as Kedah Menteri Besar.
