MACC to charge Phang Li Koon tomorrow
(The Star) – Phang Li Koon, the previous owner of the Pinhorn Road bungalow bought by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, would be charged in the Sessions Court here tomorrow.
A source confirmed that the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission arrested Phang on Wednesday afternoon.
It is learnt that Phang would be charged with either perjury or making a false statutory declaration or corruption.
Lim, the DAP secretary general, was arrested by MACC officers after he chaired the weekly state exco meeting at Komtar.
Five to eight plainclothes men were seen escorting Lim in a private lift from Level 28 and later to the MACC headquarters here.
Lim would be charged on Thursday under Section 23 and Section 165 of the Anti-Corruption Act over the re-zoning approval of Magnificent Emblem’s application to convert agricultural land to residential and the purchase of the bungalow at below market value.
