(The Star) – Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming has denied posting images that insulted Muslims in a Hari Raya message on Facebook, claiming he is a victim of cybertroopers.

“At all material time, I have never uploaded or drawn the said cartoon, instead I am a victim of cybertroopers who are engaged by a certain party with vested interest in a smear campaign against the DAP,” Nga said in a statement on Sunday.

Police started investigations on reports that claimed the Taiping MP insulted Muslims by posting an insulting Aidilfitri message on Tuesday.

“I respect Islam as the religion of the federation and I am determined to uphold the principles enshrined in our Federal Constitution as a Member of Parliament,” Nga said, adding that he was prepared to assist in investigations.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said a number of police reports had been lodged over the post, adding that the Taiping MP would be investigated under Section 298 of the Penal Code and the Sedition Act 1948.

Nga was accused of uploading a picture on his Facebook page featuring a lighthouse with a US flag and Hari Raya greetings.
