Snap polls for Penang? Tian Chua indicates no consensus yet
(MMO) – PKR is still unsold on holding early elections in Penang, its vice-president Chua Tian Chang said today.
As his party’s national leaders make haste to Penang for a closed-door meeting with its DAP partner which controls the northern state, Chua said PKR still has questions before it can decide on the issue.
“No… we must have a decision made jointly. We need some clarifications and we want to work out some details before we can make a decision,” the Batu MP told reporters outside the Sessions Court here after his sedition trial hearing.
The politician popularly known by his moniker Tian Chua also said speculations on Pakatan Harapan’s performance if polls were called in Penang would be premature.
“It is still too early to speculate all this thing. Because we have not decide or go that far to say to have snap poll,” he said.
PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali is meeting Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng this afternoon to discuss the possibility of calling for early elections in the state.
Last night, Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said her party PKR does not yet see the necessity for Penang to hold elections in the state ahead of the 2018 expiry of its mandate.
