AG issues final warning for Guan Eng to stop commenting on his corruption case

Apandi Ali

(Bernama) – Attorney-General (AG) Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali today warned Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to stop commenting on the corruption charges that he is currently facing.

Apandi said it was the final warning for Lim following the DAP secretary general’s action in doing so since the day he was charged in court despite being cautioned through English daily The Star and through his (Lim) lawyers.

“I have to issue this final warning because his latest comments are tantamount to an assault on my integrity as the public prosecutor.

“I have to defend myself on such baseless accusation that questions my integrity.

“In the course of defending myself, I may have to disclose the evidence that the prosecution have against him,” Apandi said in a statement here today.

Apandi who is leading the prosecution team in Lim’s trial said most of the evidence against Lim were documentary in nature and that the documents were all in his possession.

Lim was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in Penang on June 29 and faces two counts of corruption regarding the conversion of an agricultural zone to a housing zone and the purchase of a plot of land and bungalow below market value.
