Police to query Umno Youth vice-chief over plot report
(The Tar) – Bukit Aman wants to determine the basis of Umno Youth vice-chief Khairul Azwan Harun’s (pic) police report alleging a conspiracy to topple the Prime Minister before proceeding further, says Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.
The report was lodged against former Bank Negara governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz, outgoing Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed and former Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail.
The Inspector-General of Police said the statement of the complainant has not yet been recorded.
“We want to know first the basis of the report.
“We will not be calling the three individuals in for questioning as yet,” he said when contacted Wednesday.
Khairul lodged the report at the Dang Wangi police station on Tuesday afternoon, alleging that the three were involved in a conspiracy to topple Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and the Malaysian Government.
The report names the three and alleges that they provided confidential information to foreign agencies including the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Khairul also urged the police to thoroughly investigate the matter.
He claimed that forged documents were submitted, and that they manipulated information to fulfill their agenda.
Zeti and Abu Kassim have said that they are consulting their lawyers over Khairul Azwan’s conspiracy allegations, while Gani has called the police report a “publicity stunt”.
