IGP: Cops to interview conspiracy accuser before calling accused
(MMO) ― Investigators will not yet question three former senior civil servants accused by Umno Youth of conspiring to depose Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said today.
He said it was first necessary to record the statement of those who accused outgoing Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed, former Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, and former Bank Negara governor Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz.
“We will call those who lodged the report, we want to know what evidence they have that led to the report. Because these are serious allegations,” Khalid said during a press conference here today.
Umno Youth deputy chief Khairul Azwan Harun lodged the report two days ago, and is likely to be summoned by police in a “day or two”, said Khalid.
