Guan Eng: Muhyiddin must join Pakatan parties

Guan Eng-Muhyiddin

(The Star) – Former deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin must join one of the Pakatan Harapan’s parties in order to become the Opposition’s prime minister candidate.

“He must join Pakatan first. For us, he must be Pakatan’s choice,” said DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.

The speculation arose after former minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim said Muhyiddin had the potential to be appointed as the Opposition’s prime minister candidate once he assumes leadership of the new party mooted by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Lim, however, said it was not up to him to decide on Muhyiddin’s candidature.

“It should be discussed among the opposition parties.

“I do not want to give my views, until there is something definite from Muhyiddin.

“Let’s not move ahead ourselves. This is purely speculative at the moment.

“Let’s wait until there is something definite,” he said after launching a blood donation campaign in Air Itam on Sunday.

Lim said since Muhyiddin had said that PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail would remain as Opposition leader, then “we should keep it as it is for now”.
