Read my lips: Najib is staying for the long haul

The ANC and the Pakatuns are jumping for joy about the 20th July 2016 announcement by the US. There is no way Najib is going to remain the Prime Minister, his adversaries say. This is what happens when you indulge in wishful thinking and you lose track of reality. And you want these delusional people to ‘Save Malaysia’? We might as well invite the British back.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Raja Petra Kamarudin

When the US Department of Justice and the US Attorney General made that very unusual and unprecedented announcement during a press conference on 20th July 2016, a number of people contacted me to ask what I thought was going to happen next. I mean this is the first time in history the US has done something like this.

Some were of the opinion (and were actually gloating) that Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak was on the verge of his long slide down that very slippery slope. To some, this was the final nail that was going to seal the lid on Najib’s coffin well and truly airtight.

Well, if you want to seal the lid on Najib’s coffin well and truly airtight, you need to first place him in that coffin. If not all you will be doing is you will be hammering down the lid on an empty coffin. And Najib is far from lying in his coffin. In fact, those in their coffins are Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Muhyiddin Yassin, Mukhriz Mahathir, and the rest of those who are in the ANC (Anti-Najib Campaign).

What many failed to understand is that the US move was a political and not legal move. It almost looked like the US was warning those they were sneaking up on to allow them time to escape and/or to cover their tracks. And that is the reason why investigation papers (whether MACC or PDRM) are automatically covered under the OSA.

I have said this before more than a year ago back in early 2015 and I shall repeat it for those who are hard at hearing or who have a poor command of English. Najib is not going to get ousted. They can huff and they can puff but they are never going to blow the house down.

They first said Najib was going to get ousted in July 2015 and then it was shifted to October and then to December. Many of my friends were so convinced that Najib was not going to survive the year. So I took bets that he was not only going to celebrate the New Year on 1st January 2016 as Prime Minister but he was going to still be around to lead Umno and Barisan Nasional in the 2018 general election and the Umno party election that will follow that.

And guess who won the bet?

The New York Times published an article two days ago titled Malaysia’s leader may prove untouchable (READ HERE).

Today, blogger Lim Sian See spoke about that New York Times article in his Facebook page in which he said as follows:

Finally, the truth is revealed. As far-fetched at it seems at that time, RPK was telling the truth at the time after all.

Maybe that is why PDRM also raided all those people under the code of Conspiracy to topple govt.

Confirmed to the New York Times by Tony Pua too.

Key facts:

– conspirators in Cabinet wanted to confront Najib in July 2015 and get him to step down. Who can these conspirators be and who would be PM if Najib would be removed at that time last year?

– Gani was filing charges before Najib was interviewed and investigation papers complete? If this were the case, he would have breached SOP and could be charged with conspiracy? Is this why he has remained silent since?

– Muhyiddin even had the gall to tell the Supreme Council in Sept 2015 that he was aware of the practice of using a special President’s account to fund the party – a practice that goes back to Mahathir times. And he even said he was aware of such conspiracies, he, knew who was behind them but denied he was part of them.

Listen to Muhyiddin again:

For a long time, people did not believe that Najib returned most of the so-called RM2.6 billion. This was confirmed by DoJ. The total amount that actually remained and used in GE13 by Najib was only RM50 million. RM2.083 billion entered Najib’s account in March 2013 when exchange rate was USD1 to RM3.05 (USD681m).

And when it was returned after the elections in Aug 2015, RM2.03 billion was returned when exchange rate was USD1 to RM3.05 (USD620m).

So to say that Najib songlaped billions in his personal account is just lying. In fact, it was used for party and CSR purposes – as what the MACC and new AG decided – no personal benefit. Heck, he didn’t even control this account and got 3rd parties to manage this account for him.

It must be noted that people like the ex-AG and ex-BNM Governor were all promoted by Mahathir before he retired.

Knowing Mahathir, I am sure he would only promote people into key positions if he has some sort of special hold on them.

He would probably not hesitate to use them to remove Najib – even if it means collaborating with foreign media or foreign countries.

NYT

Lim Sian See also spoke about Muhyiddin’s statement (which you can view in the video above) that he knew about that special bank account and that this had been the practice from way back during the time when Mahathir was the Prime Minister.

Even more interesting is Muhyiddin’s statement that he was aware of the conspiracy to oust Najib and even knows all the people behind that conspiracy. Hence the conspiracy involving the six Tan Sri that Malaysia Today revealed more than a year ago has been confirmed by Muhyiddin himself.

Anyway, Najib may have taken his time but he eventually, albeit slowly, purged the government and Umno and got rid of all those who carried daggers behind their backs. And it is long overdue because in the US the day the new President takes over he replaces all the key positions with his own people. Watch what is going to happen soon when either Trump or Clinton takes over as the new US President.

With the latest developments today, Najib is even stronger than before and The New York Times seems to think so as well in its article two days ago.

But then what about the US announcement of 20th July 2016? Well, what about it? What has that got to do with Najib? In fact, what has that even got to do with 1MDB? Do you think the US is about to invade Malaysia and will send the Marines to Putrajaya and take Najib back to the US by force?

Maybe you are thinking of the Panamanian leader, Manuel Antonio Noriega Moreno, who the US kidnapped and brought back to the US when they invaded Panama in 1989. Well, remember that this is the same US that smuggled Ferdinand Emmanuel Edralin Marcos out of the Philippines to the safety of Hawaii so that the government could not arrest him — whereas Marcos and Noriega are like two peas in a pod.

So, if you think the US is going to take the side of the ANC to oust Najib and replace him with Mahathir’s proxy Prime Minister and Mukhriz as the new deputy then you are even more stupid than you look. The US will only do ONE thing, and that one thing is whatever serves the interest of the US in the ASEAN region against the backdrop of an emerging China.

The US Attorney General had better pray that Clinton wins the Presidency. If Trump wins instead then the Attorney General is going to be on benefits, as we say here in the UK. After all, she is not really Mother Teresa. And she has proven that whatever she does is whatever her political masters want her to do (which has been the culture since the days of Robert Kennedy more than 50 years ago).

Malaysians should stop hallucinating. It is not the US or the ANC that decides whether Najib stays or goes. It is Umno. And, of course, it will be the voters at the ballot box in 2018 that will decide if Barisan Nasional stays the government. And if the voters say yes then Najib gets to remain the Prime Minister because Umno is not about to kick him out.

So tell me, which part of Umno decides whether Najib remains the Prime Minister do you not understand?
