BN’s ‘formula’ to recapture Selangor mere rhetorics, PKR MP says

(MMO) – PKR’s Zuraida Kamaruddin today shrugged off Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s so-called formula for Barisan Nasional (BN) to wrest back control of Selangor, describing it as mere rhetorics.

The PKR Women chief said BN has been coming up with various ways to recapture the state since 2008, but the federal Opposition has kept the state in the 2013 polls with an even bigger majority.

“What has Najib not said? He said will do or die, he said that since first term. And will do whatever it takes,” she asked in a press conference after officiating the wing’s general meeting here.

“I am sure the Selangor people have known their tricks and to me, these are rhetorics. I have heard of it since 2008.

“But then in 2013, our results jumps and add to our majority. So, to me these are rhetorics and I believe Selangor can remain with Pakatan,” she added.

In 2013, then Pakatan Rakyat which was made of PKR, DAP and PAS had won 44 out of the 56 state assembly seats in Selangor, up eight seats from 2008.

Earlier in her speech, the Ampang MP had also questioned the need for a formula and described it as a “desperate” attempt on BN’s part.

Yesterday, Najib said Umno and the BN have found the formula to wrest back Selangor from the opposition in the coming general election, during the simultaneous delegates meeting of all Selangor Umno divisions in Sepang.

Najib, who is also Umno president and BN chairman, said the lessons from the BN’s defeat in the state in the 13th General Election (GE13) and big victory in the Sungai Besar parliamentary by-election with a majority of 9,191 votes, provided the formula.

Taking the BN’s defeat in the Sepang parliamentary seat in GE13 as an example, he said the biggest factor contributing to the loss was internal strife in the Sepang Umno division.
