What will Mahathir’s final move be?

1MDB has been milked to the maximum until there is no longer even a drop to spare. Clearly the 1MDB issue is not going to bring Najib down. The only option left seems to be a ‘Malaysian Spring’. Short of bloodshed Najib is not going to be ousted.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Raja Petra Kamarudin

Back in 1999, at the height of the Reformasi movement, there was a riddle floating around the Internet that went as follows:

Who was the leader who hated and condemned the Jews, blamed the west and the Jews for his country’s economic problems, built lavish monuments to burnish his ego, launched a national car, wanted the Olympics to be held in his country, and accused the second most powerful man in his country of sodomy?

Most people replied ‘Mahathir’. Actually the answer is ‘Hitler’, although I have to admit that the parallel is uncanny.

Now, to many, this may just be a joke and not really something to be taken seriously. However, if you know the history of Hitler and if you know how he exploited racism and played with ‘red flags’ or ‘false flags’ operations to attain or retain power, then you know this is no laughing matter.

If you do not know what a ‘red flag’ operation is then go look it up. But Hitler’s red flag operation that I am talking about was the burning of the Reichstag building on 27th February 1933. It is said that the Nazis did it but they pinned the blame on the Communists, who were as strong or stronger than the Nazis, and hence a rival group that needed to be brought down.

After that incident the Germans rallied behind the Nazis and the Communists, who Hitler said the Jews were supporting, were wiped out, as were six million Jews later on.

So do not underestimate the burning of buildings. The burning of the Reichstag changed the entire course of history and resulted in an estimated 60-80 million deaths or 3% of the world’s population at that time when WWII broke out.

Can that happen in Malaysia? Well, that is not the correct question to ask. The correct question would be: has it ever happened in Malaysia? I suppose, if what Tunku Abdul Rahman said about May 13 and if what Tun Musa Hitam said about Memali is true, then, yes, it has happened in Malaysia before and it happened more than once.

The important point to note here is not only what were alleged but that the allegations, that were made more than once, have never been denied by those implicated in these incidences. And the name of Mahathir Mohamad seems to pop up every time these incidents are mentioned.

There were White Papers done on both May 13 and Memali and both were presented to Parliament. But it appears now that the whole truth was not told and certain omissions that were crucial to finding out the truth were allowed. Misleading parliament is a very serious offence and gives an impression that there is no remorse and those implicated in the deed would not hesitate to do it again.

And that is the part that I find most troubling — that there are people who are prepared to play with the lives of Malaysians for the sake of political gain. I know there is a saying ‘you cannot fry the egg unless you break the shell’, meaning the end justifies the means. But it is fine for you to say that when it is my life at stake and it is you who gain from my death.

About a month after that most tragic ‘May 13’ incident, on 17th June 1969 Mahathir wrote that famous or infamous open letter to Tunku Abdul Rahman, which you can read below.

Now, as you can see from that letter (below), Mahathir does not express any regret for May 13. Instead, he blames Tunku for it and accuses the Prime Minister of being too soft with the Chinese. Mahathir said the Malays are angry with the Chinese and it is Tunku’s fault that the Chinese are arrogant and no longer respect the Malays or the government.

In short, Mahathir said that the Chinese deserved it and had it coming and if it was not because of Tunku the Chinese would have been put in their place a long time ago instead of being given too much face.

After that open letter, Umno sacked Mahathir and that was when he wrote his equally infamous book, The Malay Dilemma. Does that not remind you of Hitler’s book, Mein Kampf?

Anyway, just to digress a bit from the subject, I would like to quote some of Hitler’s famous ‘doctrines’.

“I use emotion for the many and reserve reason for the few.”

“The victor will never be asked if he told the truth.”

“To conquer a nation, first disarm its citizens.”

“Kill, Destroy, Sack, Tell lie; how much you want; after victory nobody asks why?

“If you win, you need not have to explain…If you lose, you should not be there to explain!”

“If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed.”

“The very first essential for success is a perpetually constant and regular employment of violence.”

“Think Thousand times before taking a decision. But, after taking a decision, never turn back even if you get a thousand difficulties!!”

“When diplomacy ends, war begins.”

“Only the Jew knew that by an able and persistent use of propaganda heaven itself can be presented to the people as if it were hell and, vice versa, the most miserable kind of life can be presented as if it were paradise. The Jew knew this and acted accordingly. But the German, or rather his Government, did not have the slightest suspicion of it. During the War the heaviest of penalties had to be paid for that ignorance.” (Mein Kampf chapter 10)

“The stronger must dominate and not mate with the weaker, which would signify the sacrifice of its own higher nature. Only the born weakling can look upon this principle as cruel, and if he does so it is merely because he is of a feebler nature and narrower mind; for if such a law did not direct the process of evolution then the higher development of organic life would not be conceivable at all.”

Before I get carried away, those are just a few of Hitler’s many ‘doctrines’. Now tell me honestly, does that not remind you of someone we all know?

Yes, and that is what I fear most. When someone subscribes to the same doctrine as Hitler’s, then nothing becomes taboo. Everything becomes halal or kosher. And the end will always justify the means. And that makes that person very dangerous.

Mahathir has tried everything possible to oust Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak. He has played up the 1MDB issue to the maximum and from every angle until he does not know how to squeeze that issue any more. The 1MDB issue has been milked until the tits have run dry. Mahathir cannot squeeze even a drop more from 1MDB.

But yet Najib will still not fall. And it is clear by now that 1MDB cannot bring Najib down.

They sabotaged the IPO. They blocked all loans to 1MDB. They made police reports. They raided the office of 1MDB’s auditors and confiscated all the books so that the audit cannot be competed. They bribed foreign journalists and bloggers from the UK, US, Australia, etc., to write negative reports about 1MDB. They got the US Justice Department and the Attorney General to make a move on 1MDB. They filed legal suits against 1MDB and/or Najib in Malaysia and in the US. They fabricated so-called ‘evidence’ to use against Najib.

Name it and they have done it. But still Najib will not fall. The only thing they have not done yet is to trigger bloodshed in the streets to force Najib’s resignation like they did to Tunku and in many other countries over the years as well. Once blood spills then Najib can be blamed and there is no way he can stay on as Prime Minister.

Is this the final and only available option left to Mahathir (what Hitler called ‘The Final Solution’)? If it were then Bersih 5.0 would probably be the best opportunity to do that. Get tens of thousands of people onto the streets and launch a red flag operation. It does not take much to start that and you need only a handful of people. But the result would be devastating and once the fire starts it would burn out of control.

And with that Mahathir will get what he wants — Najib’s exit and Mukhriz installed as the next Prime Minister of Malaysia. And Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the Deputy Prime Minister cum Home Minister, would also have to take the blame for the turmoil and would need to leave on the same boat as Najib.

Talk about killing two birds with one stone! Epic!

Y.T.M. Tunku,

Tunku. Sabenar-nya, orang2 Melayu sekarang, baik PAS baik Umno, betul2 benchi pada Tunku, terutama orang2 yang di-hina-kan oleh orang China dan yang kehilangan rumah-tangga, anak-pinak, saudara-mara kerana tolak ansur Tunku.

Mereka kata Tunku chuma ingin di-kenal-kan sebagai “The Happy Prime Minister” walau-pun ra’ayat menderita.

Patek lebih takut kalau kerajaan mula “lose control over the armed forces”.

Patek Yang Ikhlas,

(Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad)
