Pas Rejects Mahathir or Pribumi?

(PRU14) – DAP is hostile with them, PKR betrayed them and now Dr Mahathir puts the pressure to join him.

After failing to dominate UMNO leaders and its members, now it’s time to turn the opposition parties chaotic and turned them topsy-turvy. None other than the ‘controlled freak’ Dr Mahathir, he will not stop at giving up as long as PM Najib Razak still leads the nation and continously gain popularity by the days.

In his desperation to popularise his new launched ‘Pribumi’ party to be well accepted by all Malaysians and in particular the opposition parties, he is faced with a critical yet real hurdle, that is the second most powerful Malay dominant political party, PAS. Dr Mahathir is very distraught that his effort to ensure the next general election will be the oppositions’ victory, shall be his worst nightmare.

Dr Mahathir too well knew that the Malays are the kingmakers in every elections eventhough DAP has dominated the chinese votes, yet Putrajaya is still far from their actual achievements to be bragged about. Statistically, the Malays comprises of 60% Malaysia population, the Chinese is only 25% and the rest goes to other races. It is undeniable that the Malays are the decision makers of the nations and in particular political influence.

Therefore, Dr Mahathir has no choice but to include PAS in his soon to be new opposition pact but unfortunately PAS is not keen to even have the thought of joining the pact. This has certainly upset him but when PAS refused to appreciate Dr Mahathir’s idea, are PAS leaders too naive to understand that it should be the best strategy to group together in order to challenge Barisan Nasional and hence a victory could be achieved?

Any political analysts or perhaps researchers would agree in total that the only  solution to defeat BN would be to emulate them and contest in the general election as a single collaborated party. In the case of PAS, do they actually reject the idea or Dr Mahathir himself is an absolute unwelcome to them?

Most opposition leaders have made it clear that any quarters  are welcome to merge as allies as long as they are supportive of each of their respective struggles. For Pakatan Harapan, it includes to free Anwar and for Pakatan Rakyat in Selangor and Kelantan only, which also meant agreeing with Hudud.

For Dr Mahathir to say that should PAS did not welcome Pribumi, they are working together with BN, he seems ignorant as to why Pakatan Rakyat was dissolved or perhaps he wishes that PAS leaders could do what he has done, that is willing to lick his own spit and trash his own principles to accept DAP as his bedfellow. On the other hand, have we ever came across when Dr Mahathir demanded the same from DAP?

PAS realised that should the opposition group together again as Dr Mahathir’s wishes, thus succeeded to defeat BN in a general election, it will definitely back to square one when the most crucial issue will be, who should lead? Being together and later split with DAP since the ‘Barisan Alternatif’ era, what Dr Mahathir has suggested is nothing new to them. They eventually split again for PAS knew nothing would work well as an odd bedfellow.
