Find culprit behind Guan Eng clown poster, says DAP man
Seri Delima assemblyman R S N Rayer asks the police to act swiftly against those behind the “despicable” poster, as they did with posters depicting the prime minister as a clown.
(FMT) – The act of putting up posters depicting Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng as a clown is despicable, Seri Delima assemblyman R S N Rayer said today.
Rayer said those behind the posters, which were spotted mostly in Jelutong, are those sowing the seeds of hate against Lim and the Penang state government.
He said the police should act as swiftly to nab the culprit behind the stickers, as they did with graphic artist Fahmi Reza, who drew the infamous caricature of the prime minister as a clown.
“I am confident that the police can take the necessary action to address this despicable act.
“I urge them to act swiftly just as in cases involving the prime minister. The police should act immediately and bring the culprits to book,” the state DAP committee member told FMT.
The emergence of the stickers pasted on lamp poles and other street structures in Penang was highlighted by Umno Online.
The stickers portray a caricature of Lim smiling – his nose and lips coloured red, accompanied by the words “Bersih 5.0”. At the bottom of the sticker were these words : “Clean Penang Up From Bungalow Clown”, followed by the words “Expel the Clown” in Chinese.
It closely resembles local artist Fahmi Reza’s sketch depicting Prime Minister Najib Razak as a clown.
Fahmi, who was behind the “Kita Semua Penghasut” (We are all seditious) and Najib’s caricature, was charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court in June for “upsetting others” under the Communications and Multimedia Act, for uploading the caricature on his Instagram account.
In July, Fahmi was slapped with the same charge at the Ipoh Sessions Court.
