(The Sun Daily) – “They are people who no longer have influence and are frustrated. But (PPBM president Tan Sri) Muhyiddin Yassin will surely give them seats to contest”

Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz dismissed the Johor Umno veterans who quit the party, describing the duo as people who are frustrated due to lack of influence.

Commenting on the sudden exit of Gelang Patah Umno permanent chairman Datuk Baharom Abdul Ghani and Kulai Umno deputy chief Datuk Tosrin Jarvanti, the Tourism and Culture Minister said that if both had remained in the party, they would have not been able to contest in the elections.

“They are people who no longer have influence and are frustrated. But (PPBM president Tan Sri) Muhyiddin Yassin will surely give them seats to contest,” he said.

Aiming a jibe at Tosrin, Nazri described him as a “frustrated taxi driver”.

“Tosrin had to be a taxi driver when he was not nominated to contest in the last election.

“He is someone who is frustrated with his life. Frustrated people have no place in the party,” he said adding that the party will not be affected by the departure of two grassroots members.

He further stressed that those who quit Umno and join the splinter party are merely aiming to contest in the upcoming general election.

Baharom who is an aide of Muhyiddin and Tosrin had quit Umno on Saturday in protest of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak’s leadership.

They both announced their decisions to quit at their respective Umno division annual meetings.

This as they are expected to join Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) following a provisional approval given by the Registrar of Societies (RoS).

It is learnt that both men were members of the Gabungan Ketua Cawangan Malaysia (GKCM), which had been proactive in urging Najib to step down as party president and premier.
