PAS, PKR blast Jeff Ooi for unsavoury ‘Haron Din’ remarks
(Malaysia Outlook) – DAP Jelutong parliamentarian Jeff Ooi came under heavy criticism from PAS and PKR for his cynical remarks on social media relating to the demise of PAS spiritual leader, the late Haron Din.
The first salvo was fired by Penang PKR chief Mansor Othman against his coalition comrade labeling Ooi’s tweets as ‘insolent and irresonsible’ for making fun at the death of the late Haron Din.
Mansor said that he preferred Penang PKR to distant away from Ooi’s racist and foolish statement.
Ooi in a tweet yesterday mentioned “Adios Haron Din. Let there be peace’’.
However, Ooi defended that using the word ‘adios’ (in Spanish goodbye) was not a bad word and meant not to insult the late spiritual leader.
In addition, Ooi also tweeted that Haron’s death was ordained by God and not our concern as he believes the late leader contributed to the break-up of Pakatan Rakyat coalition.
Penang PAS Youth leader Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamuddin heavily criticised the Jelutong parliamentarian for being arrogant in issuing derogatory remarks.
According to Afnan via a statement, Ooi’s tweet has smeared his reputation as a parliamentarian.
